TOP 5 creative applications of colour cosmetics. This will surprise you!

You’ve just run out of your beloved BB cream or loose powder, you have nothing to do your eyebrows with, or you are in an urgent need for a good highlighter – looks familiar? Luckily, you can handle this situation easily. Here are 5 brilliant ideas to put your colour cosmetics into new roles and find their alternative applications. Do you know how to do your eyebrows without having, just seemingly, right cosmetics? Do you know what to replace loose powder with? You will be surprised!

1. Lipstick as blusher, highlighter and eye shadow

The idea to make cheeks pinkish by using a lipstick is known to almost everyone. However, it must be realized that the shade of the lipstick you are about to apply has to match your skin tone, which can be either warm or cool.

Another excellent idea for alternative makeup is using a pearl, shimmering or metallic lipstick that is either pink or nude, and apply it to the top of cheek bones, the bridge of the nose and brow ridge. This shimmering lipstick will highlight the face parts that require light and lustrous reflexes.

2. White clay as loose powder

Are you left with literally no powder and you have nothing at your disposal to add velvety and matte finish to your face? It appears that white clay noses all powders out. Yes, go ahead, you can use white clay to powder your nose with. It won’t only take care of your skin and condition it due to the mineral content but also it will gift your complexion with matte and smooth finish. To us, white clay works better than rice powder and bamboo powder combined together. It creates the photoshop effect, which means that white clay scatters light, lasts a few long hours and doesn’t cumulate in skin creases. A true marvel! Furthermore, white clay is perfect for washing face with, especially if you have run out of washing gel/foam. This is every woman’s must-have.

3. Eye shadows instead of brow pencil

If you have just run out of, lost or broken brow pencil and you have no sharpener at hand – reach for brown eye shadow. It turns out that it’s irreplaceable when it comes to face makeup. If you are a blonde woman, you can go for gray shade instead of brown colours. Basically, you should make sure that the shadow you want to apply to your brows matches the natural colour of your brow hairs. You can mix it with darker shades, even with black shades, in order to achieve the desired dramatic effect. All you have to do is apply a colourless lip balm to your eyebrows (waxes that the lip balm contain will help you style the brow hairs and increase adhesiveness of the shadows), and then with the aid of cut-at-angle brush you can start applying the eye shadows. Next, once you finish, brush out the excess of the product. If you are well-skilled at this, you can apply a few hues of one colour. In this way, you can create a really interesting and alluring effect.

4. Eye shadows as a bronzer and highlighter

Loose and pressed eye shadows which are well-pigmented serve many purposes. They can be applied to other face parts, not only to the eyelids that they are primarily designed for. To demonstrate, you can use eye shadows to put them on your cheekbones, in the very place where you would normally use a bronzer. In this case, you should make use of eye shadows delivering matte finish, browns of either warm or cool tones. If your lips are narrow and small, give a go to light and pearl eye shadows. However, before applying them, cover your lips with a colourless balm first. This trick will make your lips look bigger. Of course, if you are brave enough and like experimenting, you can mix shimmering eye shadows to create effect and colour that will suit you best.

5. Magic tricks done with cream, foundation and eye shadows

Let’s go through the scenario again, there is no BB cream on your dressing table but you want to apply light makeup that won’t overburden your face. In such situations, you can give a go to the following trick: mix your favourite foundation (even a full-coverage one) with a light day face cream. Apply it to your face. The BB effect created! If you are making yourself ready for a big night-out and you need to highlight your body somehow, you don’t have to rush to a shop to get a highlighting body emulsion. Instead, combine a pearl eye shadow with body butter, cream or balm. Pat the mixture into your skin, or to be more precise, to the body parts that require being lightened up (e.g. cleavage or shoulders). You can extend the lifespan of your highlighting body product if you use a light body gel (e.g. aloe or linseed) instead of body balm. When your body needs an additional portion of moisturisation, you can mix a shimmering eye shadow with natural oil. Especially dry skin type will be grateful for such care.
